When what you used to want is not you anymore

The realization that you no longer want what you used to love, is a realization that mostly comes sneaking. You may not even know that this is the cause of your dissatisfaction, but just feel something is missing in and from life.

It’s not easy to realize that what you wanted is not you anymore. It can be very painful, stressing and make you feel scared, regardless of whether it is privately or professionally.

Having someone to talk to, can help put words onto all the doubt, thoughts and concerns that you have. Often we are split into different values pulling in each direction in the for or against dilemma.

Changes, especially big one, does alter life as it is, and can have more consequences that first anticipated. It is not uncommon that persons that divorce also get laid off, or that changing your study field also leads to changing your circle of friends, or at least some of the, or that retirement leads to depression or even sickness, mostly temporary.

Should we then be afraid of change? No is the short answer – Changes are uavoidable, whether or not they lead to big decisions is your choice, therapy and coaching can scaffold your considerations and give you overview, so that you start to influence events and take power over how things are developing, instead of the things “just happening to you”.

Changing your job, your partner or your field of study is all life altering events and decisions that are complex.

Therapy and coaching helps you build your overview, position yourself and scaffold your view on the future, so that you can identify the potential dominating stories holding you back on reaching your more preferred life.

Not acting on a life of mediocracy can lead to depression and feeling lonely even around people, feeling that things are happening to you and that you have little or no influence. You may have lost touch with what you really want and which values are important for you – you just know life as it is, is no longer you.
